Job description
We are seeking a driven Forestry Project Manager to lead sustainable forest projects in the Vancouver region. This role blends field operations, data-driven decision making, and stakeholder collaboration to ensure compliant, high-quality timber harvesting and reforestation efforts.
At CanopyWorks Forestry Solutions, you will manage multi-disciplinary teams, drive project timelines, and liaise with regulatory agencies, contractors, and Indigenous partners. This is a full-time, on-site role with flexible hybrid options in Vancouver, BC.
Responsibility
- Lead forest management projects from initiation to closeout, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and client objectives.
- Plan, execute, and monitor field surveys, inventory programs, and silvicultural treatments; adapt plans based on data insights.
- Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, risk registries, and resource allocation while maintaining safety and quality standards.
- Coordinate with forestry technicians, GIS specialists, contractors, and vendors to deliver on-time, on-budget outcomes.
- Engage stakeholders including local communities, Indigenous groups, and regulatory agencies to secure approvals and maintain transparent communication.
- Ensure environmental safeguards, reforestation commitments, and sustainable harvesting practices are integrated into all projects.
- Prepare technical reports, permit applications, and presentations for government agencies and clients.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, or a related field; Master’s preferred.
- 5+ years of forestry project management experience in a regulated environment.
- Strong knowledge of British Columbia forestry regulations (e.g., Forest Act, Forest and Range Practices Act) and permit processes.
- Proficiency with GIS tools (ArcGIS, QGIS) and data-driven decision-making.
- Demonstrated budget management, contract administration, and vendor coordination experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to present to diverse stakeholders and authorities.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to field sites; willingness to work in varied outdoor conditions.
- Commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and ethical practices; First Aid certification is a plus.
