Job description

Join Nexus Manufacturing Group, a premier manufacturer with facilities across the Northeast. We are seeking an experienced Industrial Relations Lead to drive employee relations, co-create policy, and lead union negotiations.

In this role you will partner with HR, operations, and safety to foster a positive workplace, ensure regulatory compliance, and minimize risk while supporting business goals. You will shape our strategy on wage and hour concerns, investigations, disciplinary processes, and bargaining with labor unions across multiple sites.

Responsibility

  • Develop and execute a proactive industrial relations strategy across all sites to align with business objectives.
  • Lead collective bargaining negotiations, manage union relationships, and administer agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws; provide practical risk assessments to leadership.
  • Oversee workplace investigations, disciplinary processes, and conflict resolution with fairness and confidentiality.
  • Partner with HR and operations to design policies, performance management, and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Monitor ER metrics (grievances, absenteeism, turnover) and report insights to senior management.
  • Provide training and coaching for line managers on effective employee relations and dispute resolution.

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Relations, Human Resources, Law, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in industrial relations or labor relations, preferably in manufacturing or heavy industry.
  • Strong knowledge of US and NY labor laws, and proven track record in union negotiations.
  • Exceptional negotiation, mediation, and influencing skills; ability to operate at strategic and operational levels.
  • Experience with investigations, confidentiality, and handling high-stakes employee relations matters.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Proficiency in HRIS, data analytics, and reporting; ability to translate data into action.
