Join Nexus Manufacturing Group as an Industrial Relations Manager and lead labor relations initiatives across our Detroit area facilities. You will shape collective bargaining strategies, advise senior leadership on policy development, and foster constructive employee relations that support safety, productivity, and regulatory compliance.
This role blends strategic influence with hands-on negotiation, policy implementation, and people leadership in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Responsibility
- Lead labor relations strategy across multiple manufacturing sites, including collective bargaining and contract administration.
- Negotiate labor agreements, manage grievances, and coordinate with union representatives to resolve complex disputes.
- Partner with HR, operations, and legal to develop and implement ER policies compliant with federal and state law.
- Monitor labor trends, compliance risks, and labor market dynamics; prepare reports for executive leadership.
- Develop and deliver training for supervisors on disciplinary procedures, performance management, and fair labor practices.
- Represent the company in negotiations, arbitrations, and mediation when required, ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Drive initiatives to improve employee engagement, retention, and workforce productivity through data-driven insights.
Qualification
- 7-10+ years of progressive experience in industrial relations within manufacturing or heavy industry.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or a related field; MBA or MS a plus.
- Extensive knowledge of NLRA/NLRB processes, FLSA, OSHA, and applicable state labor laws.
- Proven track record in contract negotiation, policy development, and issue resolution.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and conflict resolution skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Experience with HRIS and data analytics to drive evidence-based decisions.
- Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills with unions, management, and cross-functional teams.
