Job description

We are seeking a seasoned Industrial Relations professional to lead labor relations initiatives across our client operations in New York. You will partner with HR leadership, plant managers, and union representatives to design and implement proactive programs that improve employee relations, ensure compliance, and minimize risk.

Responsibility

  • Lead and manage all Industrial Relations activities across multiple sites in the region, ensuring alignment with business goals and compliance with applicable laws.
  • Develop and implement IR policies, procedures, and programs that promote constructive labor relations and effective dispute resolution.
  • Coordinate with unions, shop stewards, and HR partners to negotiate and administer collective bargaining agreements and contracts.
  • Provide strategic guidance on workplace investigations, grievance handling, and disciplinary actions to protect both employees and the organization.
  • Monitor labor market trends and regulatory changes, assessing risk and advising leadership on mitigation strategies.
  • Lead training programs for managers on employee relations, grievances, and compliance requirements.
  • Prepare and present IR metrics and reports to senior leadership to inform decision making and continuous improvement.

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Relations, Human Resources, Law, or a related field; Master’s degree or professional certification preferred (e.g., IRLR, SHRM-SCP).
  • 7+ years of experience in industrial or labor relations, preferably in manufacturing, energy, or heavy industry sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of labor laws, collective bargaining agreements, negotiation techniques, and dispute resolution.
  • Proven track record in collective bargaining, contract administration, and grievance resolution.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, written and verbal communication, and influencing skills at all levels of the organization.
  • Analytical thinker with the ability to translate data into actionable insights; proficient in HRIS, MS Office, and HR analytics.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and maintain confidentiality.
