Responsibility
- Oversee navigational operations and route planning for international voyages.
- Utilize advanced navigation systems, radar, ECDIS, and GPS technologies to ensure safety and maritime compliance.
- Monitor and interpret weather data, tides, and currents to optimize journey safety and efficiency.
- Maintain navigational logs and regulatory documentation in line with IMO standards.
- Collaborate with the bridge and engineering teams to coordinate vessel operations.
- Lead navigation-related emergency preparedness and drills.
- Train and mentor junior officers and navigation cadets.
- Ensure adherence to all Singapore and international maritime laws and protocols.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Marine Navigation or Nautical Science (or equivalent).
- Valid Certificate of Competency (Officer of the Watch or higher) issued by an IMO-recognized authority.
- Minimum 3 years of seafaring experience on commercial vessels.
- Proficiency with ECDIS, ARPA, and modern maritime navigation systems.
- Comprehensive knowledge of COLREGS, SOLAS, and ISM code requirements.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and leadership capabilities.
- Singaporean or eligible to work in Singapore preferred.
