Job description

Northstar Mentoring Collective is seeking a Part-Time Mentor & Program Coach to empower individuals on their personal and professional journeys. You’ll pair with mentees, facilitate goal setting, provide feedback, and deliver coaching that drives measurable growth. This role is ideal for experienced mentors, coaches, educators, or industry professionals who enjoy guiding others to realize their potential.

As a mentor, you’ll create a safe, confidential space for mentees to explore challenges, identify strengths, and develop actionable plans. You’ll collaborate with program coordinators to schedule sessions, track progress, and contribute to program improvements.

Responsibility

  • Conduct one-on-one mentoring sessions and small-group coaching to support mentees’ personal and professional goals.
  • Co-create individualized development plans with mentees, including milestones and success metrics.
  • Facilitate goal setting, progress tracking, and accountability through structured check-ins.
  • Provide constructive feedback, practical guidance, and strategies for skill-building and career advancement.
  • Maintain accurate session notes and progress reports in our LMS and mentor portal.
  • Collaborate with program staff to schedule sessions, recruit participants, and design micro-workshops.
  • Develop and share learning resources, exercises, and templates to accelerate growth.
  • Uphold confidentiality, ethics, and inclusive coaching practices in all interactions.

Qualification

  • 3+ years of mentoring, coaching, teaching, or related experience with diverse populations.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field (education, psychology, business, or related).
  • Coaching or mentoring certification preferred (e.g., ICF, credentials in cognitive behavioral coaching, or educational coaching).
  • Excellent active listening, questioning, and communication skills.
  • Ability to build rapport quickly and adapt to different learning styles.
  • Familiarity with goal-setting frameworks (SMART, OKR) and progress reporting.
  • Proficiency with coaching tools, LMS, CRM, or scheduling software; tech-savvy and organized.
  • Availability for flexible scheduling, including evenings and weekends as needed.
