BlueDepth Ocean Analytics is seeking a talented Oceanography Research Scientist to lead field and data driven investigations into coastal processes, ocean circulation, and marine ecosystem dynamics. Responsibility
- Lead design and execution of field campaigns, coordinating vessel time, sensors, and sampling strategies.
- Collect, quality-check, and analyze physical, chemical, and biological oceanographic data using MATLAB, Python, and R.
- Develop and maintain data processing pipelines, including QC/QA, calibration, and metadata documentation.
- Apply statistical methods and numerical models to interpret ocean dynamics and ecosystem responses.
- Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present results to cross disciplinary teams.
- Collaborate with engineers and technicians to deploy autonomous platforms and sensor networks.
- Contribute to grant writing and project proposals to secure funding.
Qualification
- MS or PhD in Oceanography, Marine Science, or a closely related field.
- 5+ years of hands-on field experience with oceanographic instruments and data analysis.
- Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, and R; experience with netCDF, GIS, and HPC environments.
- Strong statistical skills and experience with data assimilation, modeling, or remote sensing.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; track record of publications and presentations.
- Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams; willingness to travel for field work.
