Responsibility

  • Perform comprehensive eye examinations and vision assessments to determine refractive errors and ocular health status.
  • Prescribe and dispense corrective lenses, fit and verify glasses and contact lenses, and provide fitting adjustments.
  • Conduct pre- and post-operative evaluations when applicable and coordinate care with ophthalmologists and other specialists.
  • Assess binocular vision, depth perception, color vision, and stereoacuity; screen for common eye conditions and refer as needed.
  • Educate patients on eye health, preventive care, lens options, and proper lens care; discuss treatment plans and follow-up schedules.
  • Operate and maintain clinical instruments, ensure safety and sanitation standards, and accurately document patient records.
  • Provide excellent patient service, manage appointments, and support busy optical clinics in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborate with the team to implement practice growth initiatives and maintain a high standard of patient satisfaction.

Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Optometry or Doctor of Optometry and current practicing license in Singapore.
  • Proven clinical experience in optometry or optical dispensing; ability to perform refractions and contact lens fittings is preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable explaining complex eye-care information to patients of all ages.
  • Experience with eyewear fittings, measurements, and frame styling; knowledge of lens technologies and coatings.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records and appointment scheduling systems; attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
  • Commitment to patient-centred care, ethics, and continuous learning; able to work well in a team environment.
  • Fluency in English; additional languages commonly used in Singapore are a plus.
  • Professional appearance and ability to manage a busy workload with professionalism.
