NovaWrap Packaging Solutions is seeking a highly motivated Product Packaging Engineer to lead the end-to-end development of innovative, sustainable packaging solutions for consumer brands. You will partner with Design, R&D, Procurement, and Manufacturing to create packaging that protects product integrity, reduces waste, and elevates our clients' brand experience.
In this role, you'll own the packaging strategy from concept through pilot runs and production scale, ensuring cost competitiveness and regulatory compliance across multiple channels.
Responsibility
- Lead end-to-end packaging development from concept through production, ensuring feasibility, quality, and on-time delivery.
- Collaborate with Design, R&D, Procurement, and Manufacturing to translate brand concepts into dielines, specs, and material selections.
- Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOM), packaging simulations, and cost models to inform decision-making.
- Evaluate packaging materials for performance, sustainability, recyclability, and regulatory compliance.
- Coordinate pilot runs, testing, validation, and scale-up activities to verify performance and manufacturability.
- Partner with suppliers and contract manufacturers to optimize material sourcing and production processes.
- Implement optimization initiatives for packaging efficiency across e-commerce and omnichannel channels.
- Champion sustainability and circular economy initiatives, driving reductions in material waste and carbon footprint.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; Master's preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in packaging engineering, development, or manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of packaging materials (corrugated, films, plastics), printing processes, dielines, and packaging specs.
- Proficiency with CAD tools (Adobe Illustrator, SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and packaging software; prototyping experience a plus.
- Data-driven mindset with experience in BOM management, cost modeling, and DFMEA/problem solving.
- Experience with supplier management, project leadership, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Keen knowledge of sustainability standards (FSC, recycled content, compostability) and regulatory labeling requirements.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders.
