Job description
Polaris Pack & Co. is seeking a Senior Product Packaging Engineer to lead packaging development for global consumer brands. This role focuses on sustainable materials, design optimization, and cross functional collaboration.
In this role you will translate product briefs into scalable packaging solutions that protect product integrity, optimize cost, and enhance shelf impact across multiple categories.
Responsibility
- Lead end to end packaging development from concept to production, including materials selection, prototyping, testing, and qualification.
- Collaborate with Product, Marketing, R&D, and Suppliers to deliver packaging that meets regulatory, sustainability, and cost targets.
- Develop and maintain packaging design guidelines, spec sheets, BOMs, and test protocols.
- Conduct feasibility studies, perform DFM reviews, and optimize for manufacturability and line efficiency.
- Drive sustainability initiatives by evaluating recycled content, recyclability, and life cycle considerations for packaging.
- Manage vendor relationships, RFPs, cost negotiations, and supplier quality performance.
- Validate packaging performance through physical testing (drop, compression, vibration) and on-line trials.
Qualification
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in consumer goods packaging development and commercialization.
- Proficiency with packaging CAD/3D tools (e.g., SolidWorks, ArtiosCAD, Cape Pack) and prototyping methods.
- Strong understanding of packaging materials, substrates, adhesives, inks, and printing processes.
- Hands on experience with testing and qualification protocols, regulatory compliance, and quality systems (GMP/ISO).
- Excellent project management, cross functional collaboration, and communication skills.
- Passion for sustainability, circular packaging, and life cycle assessment.
