Job description
NexDrive Automotive Solutions is seeking a Senior Automotive Systems Engineer to join our Detroit-based R&D team. You will own multi-domain system integration across powertrain, battery, chassis, and ADAS, turning complex requirements into robust, scalable solutions for electric and autonomous vehicles.
As a core member of the Systems Engineering group, you will collaborate with Design, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain to deliver best-in-class products on schedule and within budget. This is a hands-on, high-impact role ideal for a driven professional ready to shape the future of mobility.
Responsibility
- Lead architecture and requirements for multi-domain vehicle systems (powertrain, battery, chassis, ADAS).
- Define system specs, interface control, FMEA, DVP&R, and traceability across the product lifecycle.
- Apply Model-Based Design (MATLAB/Simulink) to model, simulate, and validate complex systems before hardware builds.
- Coordinate cross-functional reviews with Design, Manufacturing, and Purchasing; manage supplier interfaces for ECUs, sensors, and actuators.
- Plan and execute hardware-in-the-loop and software-in-the-loop testing; drive issue resolution and root-cause analysis.
- Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards (ISO 26262, ASPICE) and industry regulations.
- Lead continuous improvement through data analytics, Six Sigma/Lean practices, and performance metrics.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or a related field; Master’s preferred.
- 5+ years of automotive systems engineering experience with EV/Hybrid or ADAS programs.
- Proficiency in Model-Based Design (MATLAB/Simulink) and systems engineering tools (SysML, DOORS).
- Hands-on experience with ISO 26262, ASPICE, FMEA, reliability, and requirements traceability.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and vendor management skills; proven project leadership.
- Experience with CAN/LIN networks, electrical architectures, and battery management systems.
