Job description
We are a premier automotive innovator focused on advanced propulsion, connected car technology, and safety systems. Based in Detroit, we are seeking a Senior Automotive Systems Engineer to lead cross-functional teams and deliver robust, scalable solutions for global OEM programs.
In this role you will influence system architecture, drive validation plans, and collaborate with software, electrical, and mechanical engineers to bring next-generation vehicles to market.
Responsibility
- Lead system architecture definition for propulsion, powertrain, and vehicle control domains across multiple programs.
- Develop and execute model-based design, simulations, and hardware-in-the-loop validation to ensure reliability and performance.
- Collaborate with software, electrical, and mechanical teams to integrate subsystems and manage interfaces (CAN, LIN, FlexRay).
- Own verification & validation plans, including FMEA, DFMEA, and ISO 26262 safety processes.
- Coordinate with suppliers and OEM partners during design reviews, prototyping, and field testing.
- Analyze test data, generate insights, and drive design iterations to meet cost and schedule targets.
- Mentor junior engineers, foster a culture of quality, and lead technical presentations for leadership teams.
Qualification
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Automotive Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in automotive systems engineering, EV or ADAS focus preferred.
- Strong experience with MATLAB/Simulink, Dymola or other modeling tools; experience with CAN, Ethernet, and automotive networking.
- Proficiency in MBSE, systems architecture, and safety standards (ISO 26262, SAE J2980).
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex technical programs.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills; fluent in English.
