Responsibility
- Lead design and execution of stock assessments, harvest forecasts, and catch-share analyses using best-practice methodologies.
- Analyze catch data, effort, environmental indicators, and market trends to inform management recommendations.
- Develop and apply GIS-based spatial analyses to understand stock distribution, occupancy, and fishing effort patterns.
- Collaborate with managers, scientists, Indigenous communities, and stakeholders; communicate findings through reports and presentations.
- Build robust data pipelines, ensure data quality, and maintain documentation in accordance with regulatory standards.
- Prepare technical reports, policy briefs, and grant proposals to support funding and decision-making.
- Mentor junior analysts and coordinate multi-disciplinary research projects.
Qualification
- Master's degree in Fisheries Science, Oceanography, Marine Biology, or a related field; PhD is a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in fisheries data analysis, stock assessment, or fisheries management.
- Advanced proficiency in R and Python; SQL; experience with GIS (ArcGIS or QGIS).
- Strong understanding of ecosystem-based management, stock assessment methodologies, and regulatory frameworks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; experience presenting to diverse audiences and engaging with stakeholders.
- Project management skills with a track record of delivering analyses on tight timelines.
- U.S. work authorization and willingness to travel regionally as needed.
