We are seeking a Senior Intellectual Property Counsel to spearhead our global IP strategy and protect our breakthrough technologies.

In this role you will partner with R&D, product, and business teams to craft robust patent strategies, manage filings, and oversee licensing and collaboration agreements. You will work closely with external counsel to prosecute patent families, conduct freedom to operate assessments, and ensure strong IP governance across regions.

Responsibility

  • Lead global patent strategy for core technologies including AI, biotechnology, and software
  • Oversee patent prosecution, office actions, and portfolio management with external counsel
  • Develop IP due diligence for acquisitions, licensing, and partnerships
  • Coordinate trademark clearance, prosecution, and enforcement for key brands
  • Manage IP risk analyses, freedom to operate, and competitive landscaping
  • Negotiate IP related agreements including licensing and technology transfer
  • Mentor junior IP team members and collaborate with R&D, product, and business teams
  • Establish invention capture processes, disclosure reviews, and IP governance programs

Qualification

  • JD from an accredited law school; active CA Bar license
  • 6+ years of experience in IP law with patent prosecution in US and international settings
  • Experience managing international patent families and familiarity with PCT processes
  • Strong USPTO and EPO procedures knowledge; proven track record of granted patents
  • Licensing experience and ability to draft licenses and collaboration agreements
  • Excellent written and oral communication; ability to collaborate cross-functionally
  • Trademark knowledge and brand protection experience a plus
  • Technical degree in biology, chemistry, or computer science; advanced degree preferred
