Job description
NovaStat Analytics is seeking a results-driven Senior Statistician to join our data science team in New York. You will design and execute rigorous statistical analyses to support product development, market research, and strategic planning. This role emphasizes collaboration with data engineers, scientists, and business stakeholders to translate complex data into actionable insights.
As a key member of the analytics group, you will lead experimental design, hypothesis testing, and model development using best-in-class tools. We value curiosity, statistical rigor, and clear communication of results to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Responsibility
- Lead end-to-end statistical analyses for product and business initiatives, from problem formulation to actionable insights.
- Design and execute experiments (A/B/n tests) and observational studies, ensuring robust causal inference.
- Develop and validate forecasting, segmentation, and risk models using R, Python, or SAS.
- Collaborate with data engineers to ensure data quality, reproducibility, and scalable analytics pipelines.
- Communicate complex results to stakeholders with clear visualizations and impact-focused storytelling.
- Mentor junior statisticians and analysts; contribute to best-practice processes and documentation.
- Translate business questions into statistical plans; deliver timely, decision-oriented insights.
Qualification
- Master's degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Mathematics, or a related field; PhD preferred.
- 5+ years of professional statistical analysis experience in tech, finance, or healthcare.
- Proficiency in R and Python; strong SQL skills; experience with SAS/STATA a plus.
- Experience with experimental design, causal inference, time-series analysis, and predictive modeling.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to explain results to non-experts.
- Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau/Power BI/Plotly) is a plus.
- Familiarity with data governance, reproducible research, and version control (Git).
