Shanghai Oriental Import and Export is seeking a resilient and detail-oriented Accounting Supervisor to join our Manila team. This pivotal role combines hands-on accounting work with leadership, enabling accurate financial reporting and robust internal controls in a dynamic import and export environment.

As the Accounting Supervisor, you will lead a small finance team, oversee transactional accounting, and ensure compliance with Philippine tax and regulatory requirements. You will collaborate with cross functional teams including operations, procurement, and sales to improve processes, optimize cash flow, and support strategic business decisions.

We value integrity, accountability, and a hands-on approach to problem solving. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, proficiency with ERP and Excel, and the ability to thrive under pressure while delivering precise results on time.

Requirements include a solid foundation in generally accepted accounting principles, experience with month end close, and the ability to mentor junior staff. This is an excellent opportunity to grow within a growing company and contribute to our ongoing success in the international marketplace.

Responsibility

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable to ensure accurate and timely financial records.
  • Lead the monthly close process, prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Monitor and analyze cash flow, working capital, and aging reports; collaborate with treasury and procurement to optimize liquidity.
  • Ensure compliance with Philippine tax regulations, statutory reporting, and internal control standards; prepare required filings.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits, implement process improvements, and maintain robust internal controls.
  • Supervise and develop the accounting team, assign tasks, review performance, and provide coaching and feedback.
  • Prepare financial statements and management reports for senior leadership to support strategic decisions.
  • Assist with system enhancements, data integrity, and ERP optimization to improve efficiency.

Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent professional certification preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of accounting experience, including at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Solid knowledge of GAAP or IFRS and local Philippine tax regulations.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills; experience with financial reporting tools.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; detail-oriented and deadline-driven.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
