Job description

Nova Insurance Partners is seeking a Senior Actuarial Scientist to join our NYC team. You will leverage advanced analytics to drive pricing, reserving, and risk assessment for a dynamic portfolio of life and pensions products. This role blends technical modeling with strategic business partnership to deliver measurable value for policyholders and stakeholders. As a key member of the actuarial team, you will partner across Finance, Product, and Operations to translate business needs into rigorous actuarial solutions, maintain model governance, and contribute to financial reporting.

Responsibility

  • Lead development and validation of pricing and reserving models for life insurance and retirement products.
  • Collaborate with Product, Finance, and Underwriting to translate business needs into actuarial solutions.
  • Manage model governance, documentation, and IFRS 17 / US GAAP reporting under deadlines.
  • Perform scenario analysis, stress testing, and predictive analytics to inform business strategy.
  • Oversee data extraction, cleaning, and quality checks; partner with data science and IT teams.
  • Mentor junior actuaries; contribute to recruitment, training, and knowledge sharing.
  • Present insights to senior leadership and participate in risk committee discussions.

Qualification

  • Accredited actuary designation (FSA/Assoc) or near-term credential; life/annuities product knowledge.
  • 5+ years actuarial experience in life insurance, pensions, or wealth products.
  • Proficiency in R, Python, SAS, and advanced Excel; SQL experience preferred.
  • Experience with IFRS 17 or US GAAP reserving and pricing.
  • Strong understanding of stochastic processes, mortality and longevity modeling, and ALM concepts.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and ability to explain complex models to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
