Join HeritageQuest Archaeology as a full-time Archaeologist focused on field surveys, excavations, artifact analysis, and reporting. Responsibility
- Plan and lead field surveys and excavations on CRM and academic projects, documenting stratigraphy and context with precision.
- Oversee daily field operations, safety protocols, scheduling, and team coordination across multiple sites.
- Collect, catalog, and analyze artifacts in accredited laboratories; maintain strict chain of custody and documentation.
- Prepare technical reports, site forms, GIS maps, and data visualizations for clients, regulators, and publications.
- Collaborate with curators, historians, and stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks and ethical standards.
- Contribute to research design, project planning, grant reporting, and dissemination of findings.
- Mentor interns and volunteers; provide hands-on training in excavation methods, artifact handling, and data recording.
- Assist with curation, storage planning, and digitization of collections for long-term accessibility.
Qualification
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a closely related field; field experience required.
- Minimum 2–5 years of field experience in archaeological excavation, survey, and recording (CRM or academic).
- Proficiency with GIS (ArcGIS or QGIS) and database management; familiarity with artifact typologies and lab workflows.
- Strong documentation and reporting skills; ability to produce clear, professional technical reports.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills; ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
- Physical stamina to conduct fieldwork in diverse environments; valid driver's license and willingness to travel as needed.
- Commitment to ethical heritage management, safety, and regulatory compliance; knowledge of 36 CFR 800 is a plus.
