Responsibility
- Conduct standardized field surveys, site mapping, and context recording according to project protocols.
- Assist with excavation planning, trench layout, and systematic artifact recovery while maintaining meticulous on-site notes and context logs.
- Perform accurate data entry and QA/QC using tablet-based databases and GIS tools.
- Maintain field safety, logistics, and equipment management to ensure efficient operations.
- Collaborate with senior archaeologists on lab processing, artifact curation, cataloging, and conservation workflows.
- Support report preparation, drawing and illustration tasks, and integration of GIS data into project outputs.
- Engage with community outreach, site interpretation, and public archaeology education when applicable.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related field (or equivalent field school/work experience).
- Minimum 2 years of field experience on archaeological projects with demonstrated proficiency in survey and context recording.
- Hands-on experience with excavation methods, artifact handling, and preservation considerations.
- Proficiency with field data collection tools and software (e.g., GIS, ArcGIS, CAD, Trimble, or tablet-based data entry).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively in teams.
- Physical ability to perform fieldwork (standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working outdoors in varying conditions).
- Valid driver’s license and flexibility to travel or work irregular schedules as needed.
