Responsibility
- Lead or assist field excavations at assigned sites in the Athens region, following established methodologies and safety protocols.
- Record stratigraphic data, artifact contexts, feature measurements, and site formation processes using standardized forms and digital tools.
- Manage artifact labeling, packaging, transport to curation facilities, and adherence to curatorial guidelines.
- Contribute to site surveys, mapping, GIS data collection, drone or photography documentation, and spatial analysis.
- Collaborate with researchers, students, and volunteers; maintain clear field journals and daily progress notes.
- Assist with post-excavation processing, preliminary analysis, artifact cataloging, and lab-based dating techniques.
- Ensure health, safety, ethics, and conservation best practices on all field activities and within storage facilities.
Qualification
- Bachelor's or higher degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a closely related field.
- Experience with field methods and excavation; prior work in Greece or Mediterranean contexts is preferred.
- Knowledge of archaeological recording systems, artifact curation, conservation basics, and laboratory protocols.
- Proficiency with GIS (QGIS/ArcGIS) and database entry; comfort with digital documentation and photo management.
- Strong attention to detail, physical stamina, and ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions.
- Excellent written and spoken English; basic Greek language skills are advantageous.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to remote sites; weekend work may be required on selected projects.
