Boiler & Water Treatment Chemical Engineer

PT. Energi Lidah Api is seeking a hands-on Boiler & Water Treatment Chemical Engineer to join our operations team in Waru, Jawa Timur. This field-based role is ideal for a chemical engineering professional who has practical experience with boiler feedwater treatment, corrosion control, and water chemistry optimization. You will contribute to safe, reliable steam generation across our facilities and help drive energy efficiency.

In this role you will design, implement, and monitor chemical programs, manage dosing strategies, collect samples, perform laboratory analyses, and interpret results to optimize plant performance. You will work closely with Operations, Maintenance, and SHE teams to minimize downtime, prevent scale formation, and ensure conformance with safety, environmental, and quality standards. You will also oversee chemical inventory, sourcing, and proper storage, while maintaining documentation and SOPs.

Responsibility

  • Develop, implement, and optimize boiler feedwater and cooling water chemical programs to ensure efficient and safe operation.
  • Oversee chemical dosing, sampling, and laboratory testing; analyze results and adjust dosages accordingly.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Maintenance teams to prevent scale, corrosion, and unplanned downtime.
  • Review process data, monitor key performance indicators, and drive continuous improvement in boiler efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, health, environmental regulations and company policies; conduct risk assessments and incident investigations as needed.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions for boiler and water treatment processes.
  • Manage chemical inventory, procurement, storage, and workplace safety by adhering to handling guidelines.
  • Provide on-site support, training, and guidance to operators and technicians; communicate technical findings clearly to cross-functional teams.

Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field with specialization in boiler water treatment.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in boiler water treatment, chemical dosing, and water quality analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of boiler systems, steam cycles, scale and corrosion control, and water chemistry.
  • Understanding of safety, environmental, and quality standards; proficient in SHE practices.
  • Ability to collect, interpret, and report water quality data; experience with lab equipment and testing methods.
  • Good communication, teamwork, and field troubleshooting skills; able to work across shifts if required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with process control systems and basic data analysis.
  • Willingness to travel to field sites in East Java as needed.
