Responsibility
- Conduct original historical research to support museum collections and projects.
- Curate, organize, and interpret exhibitions based on archival materials and artifacts.
- Collaborate with educators and public programs to enhance visitor engagement.
- Publish scholarly articles and present at professional conferences.
- Manage acquisition, documentation, and preservation of historical materials.
- Work cross-functionally to develop digital resources and online content.
- Supervise interns, volunteers, and junior staff in daily curatorial activities.
- Represent the Smithsonian at public events and outreach initiatives.
Qualification
- Ph.D. in History or closely related field; ABD may be considered with strong experience.
- Minimum 2 years curatorial or research experience in a museum or academic setting.
- Demonstrated expertise in American, World, or Public History.
- Strong publication record or evidence of scholarly contribution.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with museum collection management systems preferred.
- Proficiency in digital content development is a plus.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment.
