Join the Heritage & History Institute, a premier center for historical research, public history, and cultural education. We are seeking a motivated Public History Historian to conduct archival research, develop interpretive content, and collaborate with educators and curators to create engaging exhibits and digital programs. This role emphasizes rigorous historiography, audience focused storytelling, and community engagement.
As part of our team, you will work on ongoing and new projects related to local and national history, with opportunities to publish, present, and contribute to grant funded initiatives.
Responsibility
- Conduct archival and primary source research to produce credible historical narratives
- Develop interpretive materials for exhibits publications and digital platforms
- Collaborate with curators educators and designers to plan and implement exhibits
- Design and deliver public programs lectures and virtual events
- Lead research planning methodology and ethical standards in historical interpretation
- Prepare grant proposals and manage project reporting
- Ensure accuracy and accessibility of materials for diverse audiences
Qualification
- Master's degree in History Public History or a related field; PhD preferred
- 3-5 years of experience in historical research curation or museum education
- Strong archival research skills and proficiency with archival databases
- Experience translating complex historical research into engaging exhibits and programs
- Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to present to diverse audiences
- Familiarity with digital humanities tools and exhibit design software
- Project management experience and ability to manage multiple priorities
