Job description
Join EXL Services as a Data Analyst specializing in machine learning and time series modeling. As the forecasting subject matter expert embedded within our client's ecosystem, you will transform data into actionable insights, drive forecast accuracy, and influence business decisions across planning, operations, and strategy. In this role you will combine hands-on analytics with strategic guidance to deliver reliable forecasts, scenario analyses, and data-driven recommendations that optimize supply, demand, and capacity planning. You will work closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, and client teams to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights and compelling stories with impact. We seek a collaborative problem-solver with a rigorous approach to model development, validation, and governance. The successful candidate will balance statistical rigor with practical business intuition, and will thrive in a fast-paced, client-centric environment where accuracy and transparency matter. What you’ll do: build, validate, and monitor forecasting models; engineer features from time-series data; design dashboards and reports; maintain data pipelines and data quality checks; document methodologies and ensure reproducibility of analyses; communicate results to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Responsibility
- Own the end-to-end forecasting lifecycle: problem framing, data preparation, model development, validation, deployment, and monitoring.
- Develop and maintain time series models (ARIMA/SARIMA, Prophet, TBATS) and ML-based forecasting approaches to improve accuracy.
- Validate models with backtesting, cross-validation, and out-of-sample testing; track forecasting performance and implement improvements.
- Collaborate with data engineers to ensure robust data pipelines, data quality, and scalable data infrastructure.
- Build and maintain dashboards and reports to present forecast results and KPIs to stakeholders.
- Provide subject-matter expertise to client teams, translating analytics into actionable business recommendations.
- Document methodologies, code, and processes; ensure reproducibility and governance of analytics work.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in data analysis with machine learning and time series modeling.
- Proficiency in Python (pandas, scikit-learn, statsmodels, Prophet) and SQL; experience with R is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of time-series techniques (ARIMA, SARIMA, Prophet, exponential smoothing) and forecasting best practices.
- Experience with data visualization and BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker) and communicating results to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and attention to detail; excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience in client-facing or consulting environments is a plus.
