Job description

HopeWell Foundation is a nationally recognized nonprofit dedicated to empowering underrepresented youth through mentorship, education, and access to opportunity. We are seeking a strategic and values-driven Development Director to lead all fundraising activities and cultivate meaningful donor partnerships that advance our mission.

In this role you will partner with the Executive Director, program leadership, and the Board to design and execute a comprehensive fundraising plan that sustains and scales our impact.

Responsibility

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy, including donor acquisition, retention, and upgrade tactics to meet annual revenue goals.
  • Lead major gifts fundraising, gift stewardship, and donor communications to build lasting relationships with individuals, foundations, and corporate partners.
  • Draft compelling grant proposals, reports, and fundraising collateral; manage grant calendar and reporting deadlines.
  • Plan and manage donor events, cultivation activities, and digital engagement campaigns to broaden outreach and impact.
  • Oversee budgeting for the Development team, monitor expenses, and ensure accurate forecasting and reporting to leadership and the board.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing team, collaborate with communications, programs, and finance to align strategy and measure outcomes.
  • Utilize donor CRM systems to track pipeline, segmentation, and impact analytics to drive data-informed decisions.

Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, communications, business, or related field; master's preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive fundraising experience, with a track record of securing major gifts and grants.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; ability to craft compelling proposals and donor communications.
  • Experience with grant writing, reporting, compliance, and donor stewardship.
  • Proficiency with donor management systems (CRM) such as Salesforce, Bloomerang, or Raiser's Edge; data-driven mindset.
  • Leadership and people management skills; ability to motivate teams and collaborate across departments.
  • Flexibility to travel as needed for donor visits, events, and partner meetings.
