Job description
We are seeking a detail‑oriented Digital Archivist to join our growing team. You will lead the intake, appraisal, metadata creation, archiving, and preservation workflows across physical and digital records for clients in public and private sectors.
In this role you will collaborate with librarians, IT specialists, and content creators to ensure long-term access, integrity, and compliance with standards such as Dublin Core, PREMIS, and EAD. You will also drive digitization projects, establish retention schedules, and apply robust information governance practices.
Responsibility
- Lead archival intake, appraisal, and arrangement of records, ensuring preservation readiness.
- Design and enforce metadata schemas (Dublin Core, PREMIS, EAD) and ensure consistency across systems.
- Plan and oversee digitization workflows, OCR, and quality control for digital assets.
- Develop and implement retention schedules, disposition plans, and access policies.
- Collaborate with IT, librarians, and stakeholders to maintain secure, scalable archives in on-premises and cloud environments.
- Configure and maintain archival CMS and repository tools; monitor system health and backups.
- Provide user support and training for researchers and staff; create search interfaces and discovery aids.
- Conduct regular audits, integrity checks, and risk assessments to safeguard governance and compliance.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Library Science, Information Management, History, or a related field; Master’s preferred.
- 3+ years of professional archival experience, including digital preservation and metadata work.
- Strong knowledge of metadata standards (Dublin Core, PREMIS, METS/EAD).
- Experience with digitization projects, OCR, and digital asset management systems (DAMS).
- Experience with XML, SQL, or scripting (Python) for data manipulation and workflows.
- Familiarity with information governance, privacy, and access control policies.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and collaborative skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects.
