At Apex Crisis Solutions, we help organizations navigate high-pressure moments with confidence. We are seeking a seasoned Director of Crisis Management to join our New York City team. You will lead strategic response efforts for complex incidents, shape enterprise-wide resilience programs, and partner with executive leadership to safeguard operations and reputation.
The successful candidate will own the design and execution of crisis management and business continuity plans, run regular exercises, coordinate cross-functional response teams, and manage communications with stakeholders, regulators, clients, and the media as required.
Responsibility
- Lead the development and execution of enterprise-wide crisis management, incident response, and business continuity programs.
- Direct cross-functional crisis teams (Operations, IT, Security, Legal, HR) during incidents, ensuring rapid containment and effective decision-making.
- Coordinate internal and external communications, including executive briefings, media inquiries, and stakeholder updates.
- Design and conduct crisis simulations, tabletop exercises, and training to raise organizational resilience.
- Partner with risk, compliance, and audit functions to align crisis protocols with regulatory requirements and governance standards.
- Assess emerging threats, perform risk assessments, and maintain an up-to-date crisis playbook and response playbooks.
- Lead post-incident reviews, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement across business units.
Qualification
- Minimum 10 years in crisis management, business continuity, risk leadership, or related fields within complex, multi-site organizations.
- Proven track record directing incident response, resilience planning, and executive communications during high-severity events.
- Bachelor's degree; Master's preferred (e.g., Emergency Management, Cybersecurity, Business Administration, or related discipline).
- Strong leadership, decision-making under pressure, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with regulatory expectations and governance in industries such as finance, healthcare, energy, or technology.
- Professional certifications such as CBCP, MBCI, FEMA ICS 400/300, or ISO 22301 Lead Implementer are highly desirable.
- Ability to influence at C-suite level and coordinate across global teams; project management and analytical skills essential.
