Heritage Insight Archaeology, a leading cultural heritage firm, is seeking a Field Archaeologist to join our Charleston team. This role blends fieldwork on urban and coastal sites with careful lab analysis, artifact curation, and high quality reporting. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to advance responsible stewardship of cultural resources.

Responsibility
- Plan and execute high quality field surveys and excavations under supervision
- Record archaeological data using tablets and standards-based forms
- Assist in managing site logistics, safety planning, and sampling strategies
- Coordinate artifact handling, packaging, and curation with storage facilities
- Contribute to laboratory analysis, artifact classification, and dating methods
- Prepare progress and final reports for clients, regulators, and stakeholders
- Collaborate with researchers, students, and subcontractors on project deliverables
- Support grant writing and proposal development as needed
Qualification
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related field
- 2+ years of field archaeology experience, with urban or coastal site exposure preferred
- Experience with survey methods, stratigraphic recording, and data management
- Familiarity with GIS, mapping software, and database tools
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to prepare technical reports
- Knowledge of safety regulations and site safety leadership
- Ability to work in physically demanding environments and travel to multiple sites
