Join our team as a Fisheries Operations Manager in Portland, Maine. You will lead sustainable fishing programs, coordinate stock assessments, and ensure regulatory compliance across our regional operations. This role blends science, operations, and leadership to drive responsible harvests and economic value for coastal communities.
As a key member of our leadership team, you will champion data-driven decision making, optimize vessel and crew utilization, and collaborate with researchers, regulators, and industry stakeholders to advance the health of our fisheries and the communities that depend on them.
Responsibility
- Lead planning and execution of fisheries operations, ensuring sustainability and profitability.
- Coordinate stock assessments and quota monitoring with researchers and agencies.
- Develop and implement data driven management plans for targeted species and gear types.
- Oversee compliance with federal and state regulations, permit management, and reporting.
- Manage cross functional teams including field crews, analysts, and partners.
- Engage with fishers, industry groups, and coastal communities to align objectives.
- Oversee budgeting, procurement, and resource allocation for operations.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Marine Biology, Fisheries Science, or a related field; master's preferred.
- Minimum 5 years in fisheries management, operations, or related roles.
- Strong data analytics skills; proficiency with SQL, Python, or R; experience with GIS.
- Knowledge of stock assessment methodologies and regulatory frameworks (e.g., NMFS and regional councils).
- Demonstrated leadership and project management abilities; experience leading teams in field settings.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills for diverse audiences.
- Willingness to travel to field sites and participate in seasonal schedules.
