We are seeking a skilled researcher to develop high-quality historical analyses, contribute to engaging exhibitions, and support impactful public programming. The successful candidate will apply rigorous archival research methods, historiography, and critical interpretation to topics aligned with our museum and education initiatives. Collaboration with curators, educators, and conservators is essential to produce accurate, accessible, and inspiring content for diverse audiences.
Responsibility
- Lead rigorous primary source research and archival work to illuminate historical topics relevant to exhibit themes.
- Develop interpretive content for temporary and permanent exhibits, including wall text, catalog essays, and digital media.
- Collaborate with curators, educators, and conservators to design engaging public history programs and resources.
- Organize, describe, and manage archival materials; implement metadata tagging and preservation planning for historical collections.
- Present research findings to internal teams and external stakeholders; contribute to scholarly articles and public-facing publications.
- Assist with grant writing and fundraising by producing research summaries, impact statements, and project briefs.
Qualification
- Master's degree in History, Public History, or a related field; PhD preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of research experience in archives, libraries, or museum settings.
- Strong command of historical methods, primary source analysis, and historiography.
- Experience with digital humanities tools, data visualization, and exhibit storytelling.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to present complex topics to diverse audiences.
- Project management skills; detail-oriented with ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple initiatives.
- Familiarity with archival management systems and cataloging standards (DACS, EAD) is a plus.
