Join the Heritage & History Institute as a Historian / Research Specialist to advance scholarly research and public education. You will conduct rigorous primary-source investigations, curate archival collections, and contribute to exhibitions and digital learning programs. This role blends traditional historical methods with modern presentation and outreach to engage diverse audiences.
We seek a proactive, collaborative historian who can translate complex research into accessible narratives, scholarly reports, and compelling educational content.
Responsibility
- Conduct rigorous archival and primary-source research for historical projects and grant proposals.
- Develop annotated bibliographies, chronologies, and source inventories to support exhibitions and publications.
- Collaborate with curators, educators, and digital teams to design exhibitions, online resources, and curricula.
- Prepare scholarly reports, white papers, and policy briefs that translate research for diverse audiences.
- Create metadata, digital content, and interactive materials for online collections and public programs.
- Present findings at conferences, seminars, and community events; contribute to peer-reviewed publications.
- Lead GIS mapping, site analysis, and spatial storytelling of historical landscapes.
- Mentor interns and research assistants; manage project timelines and deliverables.
Qualification
- Master's degree or PhD in History, Public History, or a closely related field.
- Strong familiarity with archival research, libraries, special collections, and provenance work.
- Proven ability to analyze primary sources and craft rigorous historical arguments.
- Experience with digital humanities tools, metadata standards, and basic GIS concepts.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; track record of scholarly writing or public-facing outputs.
- Project management skills with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and work independently.
- Comfort presenting to diverse audiences and collaborating across disciplines.
- Proficiency with research ethics, copyright, and archival preservation best practices.
