LegacyArchive Histories is seeking a motivated Historian Researcher to join our team in Cambridge, MA. This role blends rigorous archival research with compelling narrative development to illuminate historical events for academic, public, and educational clients. You will work with a multi-disciplinary team of historians, librarians, and editors to transform primary sources into accessible, accurate histories.
As a Historian Researcher, you will locate, assess, and interpret archival materials, create annotated bibliographies, and contribute to exhibitions, publications, and digital resources. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong research methodology, rigorous source criticism, and a commitment to ethical scholarship.

Responsibility
- Conduct comprehensive archival and secondary-source research to support historical narratives and exhibits.
- Evaluate and contextualize primary sources, creating annotated bibliographies and source notes.
- Collaborate with curators, editors, and educators to design engaging content for exhibitions, publications, and digital platforms.
- Plan and execute research methods, maintain rigorous documentation, and ensure reproducibility of findings.
- Write clear, accurate narratives, reports, and summaries tailored to diverse audiences.
- Manage research projects, track milestones, and coordinate with external institutions.
- Present findings to internal teams and external partners, and respond to feedback with revisions.
Qualification
- Master's degree in History, Public History, or a related field; PhD preferred.
- Strong archival research experience with familiarity with archives, libraries, and special collections.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to translate complex material for varied audiences.
- Proficiency in historical methods, source criticism, historiography, and citation practices (Chicago, MLA).
- Experience with digital humanities tools, data management, and digital exhibits is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects.
- Languages such as Latin, French, or German are beneficial but not required.
