NovaQuant Analytics is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mathematics Research Scientist to join our interdisciplinary team in Boston. You will lead advanced mathematical modeling, numerical analysis, and algorithm development to solve real-world analytics challenges for finance, tech, and health sectors. Responsibility
- Lead and manage end-to-end mathematical research projects from problem framing through validation and deployment.
- Develop and implement numerical methods, optimization algorithms, and statistical models for real-world datasets.
- Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to translate theoretical insights into scalable software solutions.
- Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present results at conferences or internal seminars.
- Mentor junior researchers and contribute to grant writing and proposal development.
- Design experiments, evaluate model performance, and ensure reproducibility through rigorous documentation.
- Contribute to the company's intellectual property strategy by identifying novel algorithms and techniques.
Qualification
- PhD or MSc in mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics, or a closely related field with a strong track record of research or industry impact.
- Proven expertise in numerical analysis, PDEs, optimization, probability, or stochastic processes.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, or Julia; experience with high-performance computing is a plus.
- Experience applying mathematical methods to finance, data science, machine learning, or scientific computing.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with ability to explain complex concepts to non-specialists.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams; project management experience is a plus.
- Demonstrated track record of research output, conference presentations, or publications.
