Join HeritageLink Institute, a premier nonprofit advancing public history and educational storytelling. We’re seeking a proactive History Researcher & Content Developer to advance high-impact, accessible historical projects for diverse audiences.
In this role, you will transform archival findings into compelling narratives, exhibits, and digital content that engage researchers, students, and lifelong learners.
Responsibility
- Conduct rigorous historical research using primary and secondary sources, ensuring rigor and ethical sourcing.
- Analyze archival materials, artifacts, and oral histories to build evidence-based narratives.
- Collaborate with curators, educators, and designers to develop exhibits, digital content, and classroom resources.
- Write clear, engaging content for publications, blogs, exhibit labels, lesson plans, and online resources.
- Manage research timelines, citations, and source documentation; maintain meticulous bibliographies.
- Present findings to internal teams and external partners; contribute to grant reports and funding proposals.
- Help design and test public-facing interpretive materials and digital storytelling experiences.
Qualification
- Master’s degree or higher in History or a related field; PhD preferred.
- 3+ years of research experience, preferably in public history, museums, or academic settings.
- Strong proficiency with archival research methods; experience with digital humanities tools is a plus.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate complex history into accessible content.
- Experience developing educational materials, exhibits, or digital storytelling.
- Proficiency with citation management and academic integrity; knowledge of Chicago/Turabian style.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment; project management skills.
- Familiarity with data visualization or GIS is a plus.
