Join the Heritage Insight Institute as a History Researcher and Content Developer in Boston, MA. You will transform archival findings into accessible, engaging historical narratives for diverse audiences.
As part of our scholarly, audience-first team, you will conduct rigorous primary-source research, synthesize historiographical debates, and contribute to educational programs, exhibitions, and digital content.
Responsibility
- Conduct primary-source research using archives, libraries, and museums to support exhibitions, publications, and digital content.
- Translate complex historical findings into engaging narratives for newsletters, websites, and public talks.
- Collaborate with curators, educators, and fellows to design exhibitions, interpretive panels, and online features.
- Develop and edit content with attention to accessibility, readability, and standardized citation practices.
- Digitize, organize, and annotate historical data, metadata, and bibliographies for public accessibility.
- Present research findings at internal seminars, public lectures, and professional conferences.
- Contribute to grant proposals and research plans to expand public history programs.
Qualification
- Master’s degree in History or related field; PhD or doctoral work a plus, or equivalent research experience.
- 3+ years of rigorous research using primary sources, archives, and fieldwork.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to tailor content for diverse audiences.
- Experience with digital humanities tools, data visualization, or museum informatics is preferred.
- Proficiency in archival research methods and Chicago Manual of Style (CMS) citation.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects.
- Fluency in English; additional languages are advantageous.
