VerdantEdge Horticulture is seeking a motivated Horticulture Specialist to join our team in Portland, Oregon. This role focuses on premium plant production, sustainable practices, and client-facing plant care recommendations. You will work across our greenhouse facilities, outdoor beds, and nursery environments to ensure healthy plant stock and optimal growth cycles.

As a key member, you will collaborate with agronomy, irrigation, and landscape teams to implement best practices in plant health management, pest prevention, and environmental monitoring.

Responsibility

  • Manage daily operations in greenhouse and nursery, including planting, pruning, and propagation.
  • Monitor soil moisture, temperature, humidity; adjust irrigation and climate controls.
  • Implement integrated pest management and preventive measures for disease and pests.
  • Maintain accurate plant records, labeling, and inventory management.
  • Collaborate on landscape installation projects with horticulture and design teams.
  • Assist with propagation scheduling, quality control, and harvest planning for stock readiness.
  • Support sustainability initiatives such as water conservation, composting, and waste reduction.

Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Botany, Agronomy, or related field; or 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • 2+ years of greenhouse or nursery experience with hands-on propagation, pruning, and seasonal plant care.
  • Strong knowledge of plant propagation, grafting, pruning techniques, and soil science.
  • Experience with irrigation systems (drip and overhead) and climate control in controlled environments.
  • Familiarity with integrated pest management (IPM) and disease diagnostics.
  • Excellent record-keeping, organizational, and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Physical fitness to lift up to 50 lbs, and willingness to work flexible hours including weekends during peak seasons.
