Evergreen Farm & Nursery is seeking a motivated Horticulture Technician to join our Portland team. This role supports greenhouse propagation, climate control, and field production of ornamentals and edible crops for local markets. Responsibility
- Maintain and monitor greenhouse environments (temperature, humidity, and light) to optimize plant growth.
- Assist with propagation, pruning, transplanting, and crop scheduling across multiple varieties.
- Monitor irrigation systems, scheduling, and water-use efficiency to support sustainable practices.
- Identify pests and diseases; implement integrated pest management (IPM) strategies in collaboration with the team.
- Record plant data, growth metrics, and production outcomes to inform planning and quality control.
- Support routine sanitation, tool maintenance, and safe handling of horticultural materials.
- Collaborate with sales, design, and production teams to ensure timely delivery of high-quality plants.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Botany, Agronomy, or related field; or 2+ years of greenhouse production experience.
- Hands-on experience with greenhouse operations, propagation, pruning, and IPM.
- Strong understanding of plant physiology, soil science, and water management.
- Proficiency with data entry, record keeping, and basic Excel skills for tracking production metrics.
- Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and in varying weather conditions.
- Physical ability to perform lifting up to 50 pounds and perform manual labor as needed.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills with a proactive, safety-focused mindset.
