Join a leading urban horticulture company focused on sustainable, scalable green space design and production in Portland, Oregon. We are seeking a hands-on horticulturist who can scale operations, mentor a growing team, and drive plant quality from propagation to harvest.
As a critical member of our agriculture team, you'll work across greenhouse systems, propagation bays, and field trials to deliver consistent, high-quality yields while maintaining safety, cleanliness, and environmental stewardship.
Responsibility
- Oversee day-to-day greenhouse operations including climate control, irrigation, fertigation, and substrate management.
- Develop propagation, pruning, and transplanting schedules to maximize plant health and yield.
- Monitor crop performance using environmental sensors and growth data to optimize yields and quality.
- Manage input inventory, supplier relationships, and procurement for horticultural supplies.
- Lead, train, and mentor a diverse horticulture team, prioritizing safety and continuous improvement.
- Implement integrated pest management and sustainable practices to minimize chemical usage.
- Coordinate trials and field experiments to validate new varieties and cultivation techniques.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in horticulture, agronomy, plant science, or a related field.
- 3+ years of greenhouse management or commercial horticulture experience.
- Strong knowledge of plant physiology, propagation, nutrient management, and disease diagnosis.
- Experience with soilless systems (hydroponics, coco, rockwool) and irrigation/fertigation systems.
- Proficiency with data tracking tools, environmental controls, and basic analytics.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends, in a fast-paced environment.
