Join a premium language services firm as an Interpretation Specialist based in New York. This role offers on-site and remote opportunities, high-visibility engagements, and a clear path to leadership within a growing practice.
As a bilingual professional, you will deliver high quality consecutive and simultaneous interpretation for conferences, corporate meetings, medical and legal sessions, and virtual events. You will also contribute to glossary development and terminology management to ensure consistent messaging across engagements.
Responsibility
- Deliver accurate consecutive and simultaneous interpretation for on-site conferences, meetings, and remote events.
- Prepare and maintain glossaries, terminologies, and field notes in collaboration with clients and project teams.
- Set up and operate interpretation equipment including headsets and wireless systems; conduct pre event sound checks.
- Provide whisper and liaison interpretation as needed for small group sessions and side meetings.
- Adapt content to cultural nuances and industry terminology while preserving message and tone.
- Coordinate with event organizers and other interpreters to ensure seamless delivery and coverage across sessions.
- Ensure confidentiality and professionalism in all engagements and post event deliverables.
Qualification
- Bachelor or Master degree in interpretation, linguistics or related field; professional certification or membership in AIIC or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional interpretation experience in consecutive and simultaneous modes.
- Fluent in English and Spanish; additional languages are a plus.
- Strong memory, note-taking, research, and rapid term development skills.
- Proficient with interpretation technology including headsets, booths, and remote platforms (Zoom, Teams).
- Excellent public speaking, client facing communication, and cultural mediation abilities.
- Willingness to travel for on-site engagements and to work flexible hours as required.
- Commitment to ethics and client confidentiality in sensitive settings.
