Job description
Vertex Capital Partners is seeking a proactive Investment Analyst to join our NYC-based equities and private markets team. You will bridge research, modeling, and due diligence to support investment decisions that drive client outcomes.
As part of a collaborative, high-performance culture, you will work closely with senior portfolio managers, traders, and research analysts to analyze opportunities across public and private markets.
Responsibility
- Conduct in-depth financial modeling and valuation analyses (DCF, comps, LBOs) to support investment decisions.
- Perform fundamental research on companies and sectors, including earnings, guidance, and competitive dynamics.
- Assist in the due diligence process for potential investments and portfolio additions.
- Prepare investment memos and presentations for internal committees and clients.
- Monitor portfolio holdings, track performance metrics, and identify risk/return drivers.
- Collaborate with traders and portfolio managers to implement investment ideas.
- Develop and maintain data-driven dashboards using Excel, SQL, and Python where appropriate.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or related field; CFA / MBA preferred.
- 2-4 years of investment analysis, equity research, or related experience in a hedge fund or asset management environment.
- Strong financial modeling and valuation skills; proficiency in Excel (Advanced), with familiarity in Python or SQL a plus.
- Solid understanding of financial statements, macroeconomics, and capital markets.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to translate complex analyses into concise memos and presentations.
- Detail-oriented, with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities; ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Team player with a proactive, entrepreneurial mindset and high ethical standards.
