Transform Information (M) Sdn Bhd is seeking a proactive IT Technician to join our Penang Island team. This full-time role provides hands-on exposure to hardware, software, and end-user support in a dynamic business environment. You will help ensure reliable IT services for staff across George Town by installing and configuring computers, peripherals, and essential applications, while maintaining security and system integrity.
The ideal candidate is technically curious, customer-focused, and capable of translating complex technical concepts into clear, actionable guidance. You will diagnose and resolve issues efficiently, document solutions, and contribute to the team’s knowledge base. You will also participate in routine maintenance such as software updates, antivirus protection, backups, asset management, and hardware checkups to minimize downtime.
Based in George Town, Penang, you will collaborate with colleagues on IT projects, assist with onboarding and offboarding, manage user accounts and access controls, and provide timely support via on-site visits or remote channels. Responsibility
- Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, software, and peripherals to support daily operations.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and basic network issues with a focus on minimal downtime and clear communication with users.
- Provide timely on-site and remote IT support across George Town and Penang, ensuring high system availability for staff.
- Administer user accounts, access rights, and security permissions; assist with onboarding and offboarding processes.
- Perform routine maintenance, patch management, antivirus protection, data backups, and asset management; track inventory and licenses.
- Document technical procedures, update knowledge base articles, and maintain accurate support tickets and incident records.
- Assist with IT projects, equipment procurement, and end-user training to improve productivity and security awareness.
Qualification
- Diploma or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; equivalent hands-on experience may be considered.
- Basic networking knowledge (LAN/WAN, TCP/IP) and familiarity with Windows and macOS environments.
- Experience with common business software (Microsoft 365, Google Workspace) and endpoint security basics.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, good communication, and customer service skills; ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Willingness to learn, self-motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team; comfortable with on-site work in Penang.
- Hands-on hardware troubleshooting, asset management experience, and basic printer/scanner setup and troubleshooting.
