Join Surya Jawara Eco as the Manager R&D Chemistry and lead our next wave of innovative, sustainable products. Based in Malang, Jawa Timur, you will shape the science behind market leading solutions that meet evolving customer needs and regulatory standards.
In this leadership role, you will drive the full product lifecycle from ideation, formulation, and testing to scale up and commercialization. You will build and mentor a high performing chemistry team, set ambitious R&D roadmaps, manage project timelines and budgets, and collaborate with manufacturing, QA, regulatory, and commercial teams to ensure timely delivery of high quality products. You will also mentor junior scientists, foster a culture of experimentation, implement best practices in data management, and actively participate in sustainability initiatives across the portfolio.

Your expertise will help us optimize formulations for performance, safety, and sustainability while controlling costs and ensuring compliance with applicable standards and environmental obligations. Responsibility
- Lead the R&D chemistry strategy and manage a team of researchers to deliver innovative formulations.
- Oversee formulation development, testing, and scale-up from laboratory to pilot and production stages.
- Drive new product concepts aligned with sustainability goals and customer needs, with clear KPIs.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Regulatory, and Commercial teams to ensure timely delivery and product quality.
- Develop and manage project plans, budgets, and timelines; track progress against milestones and adjust resources as needed.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards, and maintain thorough documentation for regulatory submissions and audits.
- Identify new materials, suppliers, and processes; optimize costs through supplier evaluation and process optimization.
- Communicate findings to leadership and contribute to IP strategy, including documentation for potential patents and trade secrets.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field; master's degree preferred.
- 5+ years of R&D leadership experience in chemical or sustainability focused industries with a track record of delivering market-ready products.
- Hands-on experience with formulation development, process scale-up, and technology transfer to manufacturing.
- Strong data analysis skills and experience with design of experiments (DOE) and statistical methods.
- Working knowledge of safety, environmental, GMP/GLP and ISO 9001 quality standards; demonstrated documentation discipline.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English and Indonesian; strong collaboration across functions and teams.
- Proven project management and leadership capabilities, with a problem-solving mindset and results-driven approach.
