Join our growing IT team as a Network Technician in Austin, Texas. You will support the design, deployment, and maintenance of a reliable network infrastructure that powers our business‑critical systems.
As a hands‑on contributor, you will collaborate with Network Engineering and Security teams to ensure high availability, optimal performance, and compliant operations across LAN, WAN, and wireless environments.
Responsibility
- Install, configure, and maintain LAN/WAN hardware including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points.
- Monitor network performance, diagnose outages, perform root cause analysis, and implement timely remediation.
- Manage IP addressing, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, VPNs, and QoS to support business requirements.
- Document network diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures; keep CMDB up to date.
- Collaborate with IT teams to design scalable network solutions and participate in security hardening initiatives.
- Provide second‑line support to end users and IT staff; coordinate with vendors for hardware and warranty issues.
- Assist with capacity planning, network upgrades, and project deployments with minimal downtime.
- Maintain compliance with best practices, change control, and incident handling procedures.
Qualification
- Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Networking, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
- 2+ years of hands‑on experience in network administration or as a network technician.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, and switching fundamentals.
- Experience with Cisco or equivalent routers/switches; familiarity with firewall appliances (e.g., Fortinet, ASA) is a plus.
- Proficiency with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Wireshark) and ticketing systems.
- Excellent problem‑solving, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork; on‑call availability may be required.
- Relevant certifications (CCNA, CompTIA Network+) are preferred.
