Job description

Join NorthStar Network Services as a Network Technician in Austin, TX. We are seeking a detail-oriented professional to install, configure, and maintain enterprise networks, delivering reliable connectivity for users and systems. Responsibility

  • Install, configure, and maintain network devices including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
  • Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and troubleshoot outages using standard tools and logs.
  • Assist with VLAN design, IP addressing, VPNs, and remote access solutions.
  • Maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams, and asset inventories.
  • Respond to and resolve network incidents, providing timely updates to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with security teams to implement best practices and harden network infrastructure.
  • Participate in routine maintenance windows and monitor for compliance with change management.
  • Support wireless networks and perform site surveys as needed.

Qualification

  • Associate degree in information technology, computer science, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on network administration/technician experience.
  • Strong familiarity with Cisco or Juniper equipment, VLANs, routing and switching, and IP addressing.
  • Proficiency with TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NAT, and basic network security concepts.
  • Experience with network monitoring and diagnostic tools such as Wireshark, SolarWinds, or PRTG.
  • Industry certifications such as CCNA or CompTIA Network+ are preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and strong communication skills; able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to participate in on-call support as needed.
