NorthStar Network Solutions is seeking a Network Technician to join our growing team in Austin, TX. You will install, configure, and maintain critical network infrastructure, troubleshoot complex issues, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable, secure connectivity.

Responsibility
- Install, configure, and maintain network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls) across campuses and data centers.
- Monitor network performance, detect outages, and implement rapid remediation.
- Support LAN/WAN, VPN, and wireless networks; assist with capacity planning and upgrades.
- Troubleshoot complex connectivity issues, perform packet captures, and analyze root causes.
- Document network diagrams, device configurations, change logs, and standard operating procedures.
- Collaborate with IT security to apply patches, enforce access controls, and monitor threats.
- Assist in network policy enforcement, QoS configurations, and backup/recovery procedures.
- Provide on-call support as part of a rotating schedule when required.
Qualification
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in network administration or similar role; CCNA or CompTIA Network+ preferred.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco IOS/ASA, Juniper, or equivalent equipment.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, spanning-tree, and routing protocols.
- Proficiency with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG) and traffic analysis (Wireshark).
- Experience configuring VPNs and firewall rules; basic security best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills; ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Ability to work in Austin, TX area and participate in on-call rotations if required.
