NovaTech Solutions is seeking a hands-on Network Technician to join our growing IT operations team in Austin, TX. You will install, configure, and maintain network devices, monitor performance, and ensure security and reliability across multiple sites.
In this role you will work with routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and VPN connections to support LAN, WAN, and data center environments. The ideal candidate thrives on troubleshooting and collaborating with cross functional teams to keep critical systems up and running.
Responsibility
- Install, configure, and maintain networking equipment including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points.
- Monitor network performance and respond to incidents, outages, and performance degradations.
- Manage IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, and VPN configurations for remote sites.
- Document network topology, configurations, and change management in our CMDB and knowledge base.
- Assist with network upgrades, cabling, patching, and new site rollouts.
- Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to resolve complex issues and implement best practices.
- Ensure network security by applying access controls, firmware updates, and monitoring for anomalies.
- Provide on call support as part of an IT operations rotation.
Qualification
- 2-4 years of hands-on experience in network technician or network support roles.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS/DHCP, VLANs, and switching/routing fundamentals.
- Experience with Cisco IOS or similar networking OS, and experience configuring switches/routers.
- Familiarity with firewalls, VPNs, wireless APs, and network monitoring tools.
- CCNA or equivalent certification preferred; strong practical experience acceptable.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree in IT or a related field a plus.
