Job description

NorthBridge IT Solutions is seeking a proactive Network Technician to join our growing technology services team in Austin, TX. This hands-on role combines installation, maintenance, and support of enterprise-grade networks for diverse clients.

Responsibility

  • Install, configure, and maintain network equipment (routers, switches, firewalls) from vendors such as Cisco and Juniper.
  • Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement performance improvements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network outages and performance issues; perform root-cause analysis.
  • Manage IP addressing, VLANs, DNS, and DHCP; document network topology and changes.
  • Configure and support wireless networks (APs, controllers, SSIDs) and VPN access for remote users.
  • Assist with network security hardening, patching, and incident response coordination.
  • Collaborate with field engineers and clients to plan network upgrades and migrations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, change requests, and maintenance schedules.

Qualification

  • Associate degree in Computer Science, Networking, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 2-4 years of hands-on network support or administration experience.
  • Industry certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent; Cisco IOS knowledge.
  • Strong working knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, NAT, and WAN technologies.
  • Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG) and ticketing systems.
  • Familiarity with firewall concepts and basic security practices; exposure to VPN technologies.
  • Excellent communication skills, customer-oriented mindset, and ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work on-site in Austin and participate in on-call rotation as required.
