Job description
NovaTech Solutions is seeking a proactive Network Technician to design, deploy, and maintain resilient enterprise networks. You will support campus and data-center environments, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and collaborate with engineers to ensure uptime and security.
In this role, you’ll monitor network performance, assist with cable hygiene, configure switches/routers, and participate in on-call rotations to support 24/7 operations.
Responsibility
- Install, configure, and maintain network devices (routers, switches, wireless controllers) across LAN/WAN environments.
- Monitor network performance using tools (e.g., Wireshark, SolarWinds, PRTG) and respond to incidents with established SLAs.
- Provide Tier 2/3 troubleshooting for connectivity, latency, and hardware issues, documenting root causes and resolutions.
- Assist with cabling, rack/stack handling, and physical security of network devices in data centers and office sites.
- Participate in network upgrades, patching, and change management while minimizing downtime.
- Collaborate with security teams to enforce access controls, IPsec VPNs, and firewall rules.
- Maintain accurate network diagrams and documentation in the ITSM repository.
- Support on-call rotations and escalate where necessary to ensure 24x7 network availability.
Qualification
- 2+ years of hands-on experience configuring and maintaining enterprise networks (Cisco, Juniper, or compatibles).
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP).
- Experience with Wi-Fi 802.11x networks and wireless controllers.
- Proficiency with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools; ability to interpret logs and metrics.
- Ability to work independently and in a team, with strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Relevant certifications preferred (CCNA/CompTIA Network+/JNCIA or equivalent).
- Willingness to participate in on-call rotation and occasional after-hours work.
- Physical ability to lift hardware up to 50 lbs and perform cabling in data centers and offices.
