NorthStar IT Solutions is seeking a proactive Network Technician to join our Seattle-based IT operations team. This role supports a mixed environment including on-premises data centers, campus networks, and cloud-connected services. You will diagnose, repair, and optimize network infrastructure to ensure reliability and performance across our clients and internal teams.
As a Network Technician, you will collaborate with network engineers and field technicians to install, configure, and maintain network devices, monitor performance, and document changes. A focus on security, quality, and customer service is essential in this fast-paced environment.
Responsibility
- Install, configure, and maintain network devices (switches, routers, firewalls) across LAN/WAN environments.
- Monitor network performance and proactively identify and resolve issues using monitoring tools and ticketing systems.
- Assist with cabling, patch panels, and site surveys for new deployments and relocations.
- Troubleshoot connectivity, VPNs, VLANs, QoS, and wireless access points; provide timely resolutions to minimize downtime.
- Document network changes, maintain up-to-date diagrams, runbooks, and standard operating procedures.
- Collaborate with engineers and security teams to implement best practices and maintain compliance.
- Provide on-call support and customer-facing service with a focus on clear communication and professional service.
Qualification
- Associate degree in IT, Network Administration, or related field; or equivalent hands-on experience.
- 1-3 years of hands-on networking experience with LAN/WAN, switches, routers, and firewalls.
- Familiarity with Cisco or Juniper devices; experience with CLI, SNMP, and network management tools.
- Strong TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and subnetting knowledge; basic wireless networking experience.
- Experience with monitoring and ticketing tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG, ServiceNow); keen problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills; ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Relevant certifications (CompTIA Network+, CCNA) are a plus.
