Responsibility
- Perform notarial acts (acknowledgments, jurats, oaths) for real estate closings, POAs, affidavits, and other legal documents.
- Verify signer identities using approved methods, maintain accurate notary journals, and ensure secure handling of confidential information.
- Conduct mobile or in-office notarizations with professionalism, discretion, and timeliness.
- Ensure compliance with New York notary laws, privacy regulations, and industry best practices.
- Review documents for completeness and accuracy; request corrections or additional information as needed.
- Coordinate with lenders, attorneys, and clients to facilitate smooth closings and timely execution.
- Manage notary tools and supplies (seal, journals, stamps) and report maintenance needs.
- Deliver exceptional customer service while upholding the highest ethical standards.
Qualification
- Active New York Notary Public with commission in good standing and ability to perform in-person notarizations (and online where permitted).
- 6+ months of experience as a notary, with signing agent or mobile notary work considered a strong asset (mortgage closings preferred).
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and record-keeping skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to explain documents clearly to signers.
- Reliable transportation, smart device, and flexible scheduling ability to travel to client locations as needed.
- Proven commitment to privacy, security, and compliance with applicable laws and policies.
- Professional appearance, punctuality, and a customer-service mindset.
- Familiarity with notary journals, stamps, and standard operating procedures.
